Yoga has been a constant in Alex’s life for more than fifteen years. Throughout that time, she has turned to the practice to help her navigate the stresses of life and heal. After years of wanting to share this magic with others, Alex decided to make her a dream a reality, obtaining her 200-hour certificate from Y7 in 2019. That decision transformed her life forever. Alex then went on to complete a mentorship with Y7, gaining an additional 100 hours toward her 300-hour certification. Earlier this year, Alex took a leap of faith and left her career in public relations to pursue teaching full-time. Alex now guides donation based multilevel Vinyasa classes, both off and online, and works with private clients. Alex's goal is to create a space that is accessible to all. Where students move safely through poses in a way that allows them to show up authentically as themselves, both on and off the mat. To do this, she relies on her words, grounded in an understanding of anatomy and sequencing, as well as energetic playlists that help drive the pace of class. Alex currently lives in Greenpoint with her husband Adam and dog Kevin.

Whether teaching group classes or working with private clients, Alexa is passionate about sharing the gifts of yoga and mindfulness while holding space for students to have their own unique experience.

Pilates has been a source of finding inner strength and testing the body’s ability for over six years for Auressa. Particularly, in 2019, Pilates mat practice was a source of blocking out everything that was causing major stress in her life and regular classes helped her to focus on self, and became a regular practice where everything happening off the mat did not matter for the duration of the class.
In 2020, Auressa was sparked to continue to evolve as a Licensed Social Worker by starting with a private practice counseling group to begin to attain the 3,000 hours needed to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and also begin training to become a Pilates Instructor with the goal of opening her own wellness studio where clients can come in for therapeutic sessions and also work on mind, body, spirit on the mat in Pilates classes. This was the recipe that helped her find her strength in 2019 and because of the strain of having to bounce between several schedules and addresses for therapy and classes for herself at that time, she wants to have a space for others where it is all under one roof.
Auressa has recently completed her Pilates Mat Certification and is working towards her 300-hour Reformer Certification. Auressa draws on her background as a Licensed Social Worker to provide a class that holds space for each individual where they can tune out of all that is going on in their lives and tune in to self. Auressa’s goal is to create an environment during classes where participants will fill up with inner strength as they build their physical muscles, creating confidence and connection to their Pilates practice.
During the day, Auressa is a School Social Worker in a High School in the Bronx for the LYFE Program where she helps provide socio-emotional support for Students who are completing their High School or High School Equivalency Diplomas while balancing being young parents. Auressa also provides counseling with Brooklyn Counseling Services Group in the evenings via zoom. When not servicing either of these populations, Auressa can be found all over the parks of Ft. Greene and Clinton Hill with her two daughters, Anaiyah and Simone, and big fluffy Samoyed, Elsa.
