Caylin

Caylin (200 hr NYP Mat Pilates Certified Instructor) is a musical theatre performer who grew up dancing and a chronic illness advocate who believes in making pilates and movement accessible for everyone! As someone reliant on her body for her profession--who has experienced losing everything to chronic illness and pain, causing her to have to start over again--she knows how disappointing and frustrating retraining your body can be and will always meet students where they are at, ready to hold hands and cheerlead others coming from similar places. Through her lived experience, it is her goal to show Pilates students of all backgrounds that they are capable despite setbacks or circumstances!

Get to know Caylin

Favorite Pilates Prop:

I love an ankle weight to advance and add some sneaky spice to any Pilates workout, but the yoga strap is a class classic for aiding stretches!

Favorite Pilates exercise:

I love Rolling Like a Ball. It really centers your full body onto your deep core and has the added benefit of being super silly and fun and a throwback to the single year I tried and failed to be a gymnast as a kid!

In 1 word how would describe your class:

Sneaky-spicy, reinvigorating, and inviting

Outside of Pilates, what does your life look like:

I'm a musical theatre performer (actor/singer/dancer), which is actually how I found my way to Pilates, having entered the theatre world after 10+ years of dance training. I also live life with chronic illness and came back to Pilates to rehab after 6 years of being nearly bed-bound and losing all strength, so I am a huge advocate for women's health and chronic illness awareness! Hobby-wise, give me a new jazz club with some sexy music and a cute cocktail, and I'm set!

Favorite Restaurant in Greenpoint:

I'm always at Maman for a quick coffee before class or Serenico for happy hour or brunch with friends after my Saturday classes!! I love how close the studio is to so many cute spots!!

Do you have any pets:

Not anymore, but I grew up showing dogs and had my champion Papillon as my best friend and sidekick for almost 16 years :)

Dream vacation:

It's been the same since I grew up watching The Cheetah Girls and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Lizzie McGuire Movie: Someone, please sponsor me for a month on the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, and Greece; I'll give you free Pilates for life!!

Favorite snack:

Hmmm...I go through phases! Plantain chips and hummus is a go to...I also LOVE a Greek yogurt parfait or really good almond croissant!

Comfort Movie:

Any 90s/early 00s romcom or classic 40/50s movie musical with a gummy candy or other sweet treat :)
